Senior Business Unit Accountant

The Senior Business Unit Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the Business Unit Manager and assigned Business Unit(s).
Responsibilities include daily bookkeeping tasks, month end reporting, job costing, and overall assistance with financial analysis of the business unit.
Maintains accounting document files, including job costing reports, purchase orders, sales orders, invoices/receipts, licenses, and other miscellaneous accounting support documents.
Responsible for managing accounts receivables and payable aging reports.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Maintain all bookkeeping functions of the business unit.

issue purchase orders, process vendor invoices, maintain job order costing, process customer invoicing and other miscellaneous accounting tasks).
Assist with month end reporting of business unit results.
Reconcile accounts as needed.
Manage Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables subledgers.
Ensure payables are processed timely.
Maintain and reconcile Work in Process account.
Prepare and distribute weekly job costing report for management review.
Ensure accuracy of each opened project/job.
Assist to resolve disputed items and answer questions.
Maintains all accounting files and supporting documents.
Assist in training and developing personnel.
Assists with miscellaneous reporting tasks as needed to support the operational team.
Process advances as required by sub agent.
Minimal travel to business unit locations, less than 10%.
Not all aspects of the job are covered by the descriptions, other duties may be required.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting, or a bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting / finance required.
Masters degree in accounting and / or finance a plus.
CPA designation highly preferred.
Five
(5) years experience in accounting and financial management.
Five
(5) years working directly in an administrative assistant capacity or an acceptable combination of work experience & education.
Advanced verifiable experience with Microsoft Suite; Word, Excel, Outlook, required.
Superior Excel skills required.
Experience with Ms.
Dynamics, SAP or similar is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent attendance record.
Good verbal and written communication skills as well as professional telephone skills required.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Must have reliable transportation, position is located in-office.
Must be highly motivated and have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
Other qualifications that may be required of this position:
Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) preferred but must be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Must be able to obtain a Port Authority Card within 30 days of hire.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
