Position Summary: Primary focus of the role is to provide guidance and assistance to account teams and clients by using financial decision making tools, conducting client facing meetings when appropriate, to speak effectively on behalf of the underwriting team regarding core services, and acting as a mentor/coach to analyst and consulting positions
Key Responsibilties:
Analyze data from carriers on clients of high complexity and providing recommendations to account management teams or to clients in order to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels.
Evaluate and present monthly, quarterly and annual reports that measure client financial status, track expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels and rates, etc. to the Account Management teams and to clients when necessary.
Evaluate, assign, monitor and peer review reports generated by underwriting team subordinates.
Operates as a consultant to internal staff as well as clients, assisting clients with a range of complex issues and needs.
Provides underwriting analysis services to internal staff and to clients according to their needs and strategic interests, assisting in retaining clients.
Assists in the sales process through production of financial projections on large accounts and related underwriting analysis.
Oversees coordination of and help conduct underwriting team training programs for staff / clients.
Serves as a resource to branch office staff in order to contribute toward measurable ROI of services and retention of clients.
Mentor, assist, educate and support the development of other staff members.
May operate in leadership role by managing projects and being responsible for subordinates in the team.
Convincingly presents strategic plans and negotiates effectively in all arenas, including carriers.
Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years experience with Broker or Carrier side with focus on Health and Benefits.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
High degree of understanding of employee benefits funding mechanisms.
Must be familiar with carrier reporting systems.
Be able to effectively articulate the format, content, and logic of all underwriting tools and client reports.
Microsoft Excel expertise.
Effective negotiation skills.
Knowledgeable in using various analytical approaches to problem solving.

Must remain aware of new techniques and office procedures and be able to implement new or changing procedures with adequate instruction but minimal supervision.
Must maintain favorable relationships with clients, vendors and other office staff.

Must have developed superior problem solving skills that allow tasks to be completed without supervision..

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
